Blackheath and Minnehaha
Looks like, this year the fall and falls appear to have entwined for us. With our hiking-loving son, we could not have returned from Blackheath without working our legs! After soaking in the autumn hues and enjoying warm coffee at the notable Sorensen's Glass House and Gardens, he selected an hour-long return trek that intrigued us to a beautiful white veil - Minnehaha Falls.
First 900 metres, intercepted by creeks and viewpoints, were manageable with roughly cut steps in the rustic terrain. The final 250 m plummeted sharply - iron ladders clamped to the boulders helped us negotiate the declivity conveniently, albeit hyperventilating. Path and steps closer to the falls were slippery, putting our balance to test. Needless to mention, we made the most of the toil of reaching the rock bottom - hopping and crawling over large boulders, we snagged an uninterrupted view from the dead end of the bowl.
Return wasn't any easier, but what easy thing has ever earmarked a precious memory?
I'll let the pictures paint our time at Blackheath and Minnehaha.
